Sven Gentner, Head of Corporate Reporting, Auditing and Credit Rating Agencies in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets, will be among the participants in the fourth edition of the ESG & FRIENDS 2025 forum, organized by the first specialized media for promoting ESG in Bulgaria ESGnews.bg.
Sven Gentner will take part in the panel “Non-financial reporting and EU competitiveness”, which aims to analyze the potential effects of the gradually coming into force regulations on non-financial reporting and due diligence, which pose a serious challenge to companies in terms of human resources, time and means to meet reporting requirements.
Who is Sven Gentner?
He joined the European Commission in 2004, having held various positions in Brussels over the years. From 2004 to 2006, he was responsible for the dialogue between the EU and the US on the regulation of financial markets. In 2006, Sven Gentner became a member of the private office of the Commissioner responsible for the Internal Market, and in the period 2007-2011 he was Executive Assistant to the Director-General of the Directorate-General “Internal Market and Services” with special responsibility for financial services.
In 2011, he was seconded to the African Union Commission (AUC) in Addis Ababa to advise the AUC on building an African internal market. From 2012 to 2013, he was the head of the Human Resources and Planning Department at DG Internal Market and Services. From 2013 to 2015, Sven was Counselor in the Department of Economic and Financial Affairs of the Delegation of the European Union to the United States. From 2015 to 2021, he headed the Asset Management Unit at DG FISMA.
Sven holds an MA in Economics from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt and the University of York, UK.
