At the start of September, business leaders will have the chance to experience the best ESG practices. Net Zero Europe 2023 will take place on 6-7 September in London as a part of the IMPACT London 2023 events, organized by Reuters.
The conference will present techniques for Scope 3 decarbonisation of supply chains. The workshops and panels, on the other hand, will help new ESG experts in creating more detailed and feasible sustainability strategies for zero emissions.

Scope 3 decarbonisation
Scope 3 decarbonisation is one of the most difficult tasks for companies across Europe. The bigger a business is, the bigger the burden to do a good job with sustainability and emissions is.
When we talk about Scope 3, we are talking about businesses that have moved part of their production or value chain outside of Europe. Decarbonisation of this part of the value chain is particularly hard. This is because partners in developing countries rarely have the incentive to employ costly green transition tech.
Net Zero Europe 2023 offers a case study analysis in a panel led by Danielle Mulder, Group Sustainability Director, BBC, Ralf Peters, VP Procurement, Coca Cola Europacific Partners, Julia Palle, Sustainability Director, Formula E and Carmel Giblin, CEO & President, ICTI Care Foundation.
In their view, companies cannot decarbonise Scope 3 emissions if partners are not on board. This is why businesses need to learn to understand their partner’s problems and create incentives for a green transition.
Net Zero plans that are feasible
More than 2 000 companies have zero-emission plans, but close to 93% of them are achievable. According to an analysis of CDP, just 0.4% of the plans are practical and realistic.
One of the problems identified in the event is the fact that many companies see each other as competition. ESG plans are often developed in a vacuum. Reuters suggests a round table discussion to explore possibilities on how companies can decarbonise together.
The event puts forth the idea that zero emissions can be a bridge for collaboration. Experts working on ESG plans need to exchange ideas and coordinate to influence big distributors and value chain partners outside of the EU together.
