The first Bulgarian media platform for promoting sustainable practices, ESGnews.bg, will exclusively broadcast the film Beyond Zero in Bulgaria on May 15 at Cine Grand, Park Center Sofia from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A special guest at the event will be Tomas Svoboda, Co-Founder and CEO of Sustainova, the company promoting the film.
The film tells the courageous story of Ray Anderson, CEO of the American carpet company Interface, and his goal to eliminate all negative environmental impacts from the company’s operations by 2020.
The film presents this incredible journey of distrust and employee resistance, showing how industrial sustainability is possible with forward-thinking and uncompromising leadership.
“Beyond Zero is a compelling story not only about the inspiring and visionary founder Ray Anderson, but also about the struggles and determination of a company trying to become a positive force in the world. The film has a message that needs to be told: In the end, it really comes down to people, and businesses can be more successful and sustainable simply by doing the right thing,” says Paul Polman, former CEO of Unilever, board member of the UN Global Compact, and the most renowned speaker and author in the fields of leadership, sustainable practices, and responsible business strategies.
A story of business transformation of the century
The transformation of global carpet company Interface, portrayed in Nathan Heavy’s film Beyond Zero, is one of the most inspiring case studies in modern business history. It began in 1994, when the company began to realize the environmental damage it was causing, and the journey that made it one of the most sustainable companies on Earth.
Ray Anderson and his team, along with the help of author, entrepreneur and environmentalist Paul Hawken, embarked on a mission to eliminate all negative environmental impacts, with the goal expected to be achieved by 2020.
If you want to understand how an insight by Interface CEO Ray Anderson so many years ago is changing the lives of employees and the industry’s understanding of leadership and sustainability, don’t miss the ESGnews.bg event on May 15 at Cine Grand, Park Center Sofia.
The film Beyond Zero won a series of awards, including the Audience Award at the Denver Film Festival, as well as Best Documentary and Best Story at the Boston Film Festival. The film is also enjoying great interest among the academic community – the business schools of Harvard, Yale, The Tecnologico De Monterrey and others have received special permission to include the film in their curricula.
