Large companies face a huge challenge in building and maintaining a healthy work environment. To foster trust and openness, and to help employees perform at their best, businesses should emphasise positive communication in the workplace. In addition, they can also value emotional intelligence, managers should show gratitude towards the team, and remain open to suggestions.

Creating a workplace that embraces all employees is possible when companies foster a culture of collaboration, creativity and innovation.

Inclusive Workplace Policy

Creating an inclusive workplace policy is essential to ensure that everyone is treated equally and has a sense of belonging. Inclusive policies are about more than just meeting the needs of employees with disabilities or the needs of parents. These policies should also recognize the unique needs of employees from different backgrounds, such as language or cultural differences.

An inclusive workplace policy can cover areas such as flexible work hours or parental leave. Policies should be written in clear and accessible language and made available to all employees. Companies must also ensure that their policies comply with legal requirements and standards.

Fostering a culture of inclusion

A culture of inclusion involves creating an environment where everyone feels welcome, respected and valued. A company culture that celebrates diversity and promotes inclusion is essential to attracting and retaining employees from diverse backgrounds.

Fostering a culture of inclusion requires leaders to lead by example and promote the practice by treating everyone with respect. Companies can organize events and activities that emphasize diversity.

Initiatives that are centered around cultivating a sense of overall belonging can have a greater impact on improving workplace engagement.

The contribution of each one

Creating a truly inclusive workplace requires everyone to take responsibility. Companies must hold employees, including managers, accountable for their behaviour and ensure that everyone understands the importance of DEI.

Companies should establish clear policies and procedures for reporting any incidents of discrimination or harassment. They must also create a safe and supportive environment where employees feel comfortable speaking up if they witness behaviour that is not inclusive.
